ITITU ILELI

Hello, my name is Ititu Ileli, 37 years old, a peasant farmer. I have 9 children. I live with my husband and the children. I and my children collect water from the spring.  We suffered from water infections for years.  At the water point, we spend hours before collecting water when people are many or it’s dirty. During dry seasons, women Fight and quarrel very at the water point over water, domestic violence was very common in homes.

We drink from the same spring with animals like, pigs, cows and other animals. During rain, rain water flows all into the spring, infecting it more.

Most times the water smells due to the contamination from the tree lives.  This has led to the spread of water borne illness like diarrhea, typhoid, stomach ache etc.

“We spend over 40,000 shillings to pay for medical bills in the health facility when one gets admitted. We don’t have money but we sell some of our animals, food items and borrow money to pay the bills, says Ileli”.

In line to the high rate of infections, we spend most of our resources on treatment of the sick ones and this has made us not to pay fees for our children in time, dress them, and feed them well and even developing our families.

From the time when our spring was protected by feat Africa, we no longer take long at the spring, no fights, quarrels, and we no longer suffer from illnesses like typhoid, diarrhea stomach ache, skin rushes etc. and we spend less time at the water point. We now pay our children in school, feed them and dress well now.

“Thank you feat Africa for the support and Joy you have set for us, God Bless you, says Ititu.”

Teite Zaneta

Hi, my name is Teite Zaneta, 22 years old and a mother to 3 children. 2 boys and a girl. We have been drinking this spring for many years now. The water smells some times and is dirty.
We spend about 30 minutes before collecting water when people are many. This led to quarrels at the water point and also increased violence against women in some homes. When it rains, rain water carries human waste and animal waste all into the spring, infecting it more. We also shared the spring with cattle and pigs from the homesteads around the spring.

Due to the unclean water used, people are infected with water borne diseases like typhoid, diarrhea, and stomach ache. Water warms which caused allot of problems to our health are everywhere.
“We spend about 80,000 shillings to pay medical bills in the health facility when one gets admitted. We sell our animals, food items to pay the bills, says Zaneta”. We can’t pay fees for our children in time, dress them, feed them well and even developing our families.

Ngota Indani

Hello, my name is Ngota Indani, 33 years old and a father to 3 children. I work as the pastor for the Anglican Church in Amorio.

From this church, there used to be many people who miss church service due to the time wasted in such for clean sources of for domestic use. Others miss because of having health problems related to water borne and other health factors that affect them and makes them to miss serving the almighty God.
Sicknesses like typhoid, skin rushes, diarrhea etc. were very common in the community. But since the protection of Amorio spring, the number of people attending church service increased and the rate of infections has reduced.

The projected has helped me reach with the gospel of Christ to many people who didn’t get access to the word of God in my community of Amorio.
“Many Christians are now happy and regularly attend church services, says Indani.”
As the church of Amorio, we now praise the almighty God’s name for answering our prayers for clean water in the community of Amorio village.

My name is Esther Bako, 20 years, a peasant farmer, a mother of one, a boy living in Godria Awu village. Godria is a community of peace and happiness to live in DR Congo. In the facet of clean water, we drink from unclean water points. Typhoid, diarrhea, stomach ache, are very common due to the dirty water we drink. We spend about 45,000shillings on medication monthly. We don’t have other sources of income but for the love of our dear ones, one sells the available animals to pay the bills.

“According to Bako, This has affected most of the plans of developing her family, good feeding and other social benefits for the family.”

However, with the intervention for house hold clean water access by feat Africa through the use of the biosand filters, I and my family and the community of Godria will be changed.
